Something big is happening at East Ridge High School on Saturday, April 29th, 2017! ERHS’s Unified Club is hosting the first ever Unified Prom.
The goal of Unified Club is to positively impact our school community by promoting social inclusion for all students. With this goal in mind, we decided to host an unforgettable evening to honor students with special needs.
Unified Prom will be hosted at East Ridge High School on Saturday, April 29th, 2017. This event will provide students with mild to moderate disabilities the opportunity to participate in a traditional high school prom in a safe and fun environment. Attendees will be treated to an evening full of camaraderie and so, so much fun. Exciting activities of the evening include dinner, dancing, karaoke, pictures, games, crafts, cupcake decorating, and much more.
Special education students will each be paired with a general education student to allow them to share this once in a lifetime experience with one another. The general ed students will provide the special ed students with a friend and a helping hand. Through this our goal is to promote a sense of inclusion among all students. Our desire is that one day individuals with disabilities will feel a sense of acceptance in society and be able achieve their dreams.
